Questions

What is the VAT rate in Sweden?

The standard Moms rate in Sweden is 25%. Reduced rates of 12% and 6% also apply. Typically food, books, medicines, passenger transport and cultural admissions.

How do I add 25% VAT to a price?

Multiply the net amount by 1.25. For example, 100,00 kr net becomes 125,00 kr gross, of which 25,00 kr is VAT.

How do I remove 25% VAT from a total?

Divide the gross amount by 1.25 — do not subtract 25%. A 125,00 kr gross total contains 25,00 kr of VAT, leaving 100,00 kr net. Subtracting 25% instead would give the wrong answer.

What is VAT called in Sweden?
