Questions
What is the VAT rate in Hungary?
The standard ÁFA rate in Hungary is 27%. Reduced rates of 18% and 5% also apply. Typically food, books, medicines, passenger transport and cultural admissions.
How do I add 27% VAT to a price?
Multiply the net amount by 1.27. For example, 100,00 Ft net becomes 127,00 Ft gross, of which 27,00 Ft is VAT.
How do I remove 27% VAT from a total?
Divide the gross amount by 1.27 — do not subtract 27%. A 127,00 Ft gross total contains 27,00 Ft of VAT, leaving 100,00 Ft net. Subtracting 27% instead would give the wrong answer.
