Questions
What is the VAT rate in France?
The standard TVA rate in France is 20%. Reduced rates of 10% and 5.5% and 2.1% also apply. Typically food, books, medicines, passenger transport and cultural admissions.
How do I add 20% VAT to a price?
Multiply the net amount by 1.2. For example, 100,00 € net becomes 120,00 € gross, of which 20,00 € is VAT.
How do I remove 20% VAT from a total?
Divide the gross amount by 1.2 — do not subtract 20%. A 120,00 € gross total contains 20,00 € of VAT, leaving 100,00 € net. Subtracting 20% instead would give the wrong answer.
What is VAT called in France?
