How to use

  1. Pick a category — length, mass, volume, area, speed or temperature. Sensible default units load automatically.
  2. Enter a value and choose the unit you are converting from.
  3. Choose the target unit. The result updates instantly — there is no convert button.
  4. Use the swap button to flip the direction without re-picking both units.

Questions

Which conversion factors do you use?

The internationally agreed values published by NIST (SP 811) — for example exactly 0.3048 m per foot and 0.45359237 kg per pound. Temperature uses the exact defining formulas rather than approximations.

Why are US and UK gallons different?

They are genuinely different units. A US liquid gallon is 3.785411784 L; an imperial gallon is 4.54609 L — about 20% larger. Both are listed separately so recipes and fuel figures do not get mixed up.

Why does the result show only six decimals?

Display is capped at six fractional digits for readability. The calculation itself runs at full double precision.
