How the counting works. When counting between two dates, the start date is excluded and the end date counts if it is a working day. When adding business days, the tool skips your selected weekends and holidays.

Official and legal deadlines may use different counting rules. Check the rule that applies to you. Holiday presets cover only the years shown; add regional holidays and other days off from your own calendar.

How to use

  1. Choose a mode. Between two dates counts the gap; Add / subtract business days finds a date from an offset.
  2. Enter the dates or offset. Use a whole number for business days. For a forward interval, the starting date is excluded and working days up to the end date are counted.
  3. Open the working calendar to change the weekend pattern or switch on a holiday preset. The default calendar excludes Saturday and Sunday, with no holidays selected.
  4. Add custom holidays as YYYY-MM-DD dates for company closures or regional days off.

Questions

Is the start day counted?

No. Counting starts on the following day; the end date counts if it is a working day. With Saturday–Sunday weekends and no holidays, 10 business days after Monday 5 January 2026 is Monday 19 January. Check the applicable counting rule for a contract or official deadline.

Can I change which days count as weekends?

Yes. Open Working calendar and select Sat–Sun, Fri–Sat or Thu–Fri. Choose the pattern your workplace or service actually follows.

Which holidays are included?

The optional presets cover 2025–2027 for US federal holidays, England & Wales, and the Netherlands. They are stored lists, not a live or employer-specific calendar; observed-day treatment differs by preset. Holidays defaults to None. Add missing dates as YYYY-MM-DD, especially for other years or regional and company closures.

How do I subtract business days?

Choose Add / subtract business days and enter a negative whole number. For example, Monday 12 January 2026 minus one business day is Friday 9 January with Sat–Sun weekends and no holidays.

What does adding zero business days do?

It keeps a working start date unchanged. If the start is a weekend or selected holiday, it moves forward to the next working date. That differs from adding zero calendar days.
