Split PDF into Pages or Separate Files

Split a PDF into individual pages, groups or custom ranges. Extract selected pages into one file, or download several PDFs together as a ZIP.

Runs in your browser — your input is not uploaded to ToolsNow.

Your documents, in order.

Merge, arrange, split and rotate in one place. Files stay on your device.

Or drop your PDF files here. Choose one document or several.

Up to 500 pages and 100 MB per workspace. Smaller batches work best on phones.
What stays in the exported PDF?

Page text, images and vector graphics are copied without turning pages into pictures. Page sizes and rotations are retained. Bookmarks, attachments, document properties and links to other pages are not guaranteed to carry over. Interactive forms and signature fields are rejected because this workspace cannot preserve their behaviour. Keep the original and check your exported copy. Files remain on your device; clearing this workspace releases its working copies.

For example: For a six-page PDF, choose groups of 2 pages to get three PDFs. Alternatively, enter 1-2 on the first line and 4,6 on the second line to create two custom files.

How to use

  1. Choose your PDF. Open a document and inspect its page previews. You can rearrange or rotate pages before splitting.
  2. Choose the split method. Save every page separately, split into groups of N pages, enter one custom range per line, or extract the checked pages into one PDF.
  3. Check and download. The summary shows the number of PDFs and output pages. Multiple PDFs download in one ZIP; a single result downloads as a PDF.

Questions

How do custom page ranges work?

Enter one output file per line. A line such as 1-3,5 includes pages 1, 2, 3 and 5 in the current visual order. Invalid and out-of-range numbers are reported rather than ignored. The same page may appear in different output files.

Are my files uploaded or saved online?

No. Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to ToolsNow. Your working documents and editing history are kept only in this page session.

Can I switch tasks without choosing my PDFs again?

Yes. Use Arrange pages, Merge PDFs, Split & extract and Rotate pages inside the workspace. They use the same files and page order.

What are the size and format limits?

A workspace supports up to 500 source pages and 100 MB of source PDFs. Phones may need smaller batches. Password-protected PDFs and PDFs containing interactive form or signature fields must be prepared in a PDF editor first. Clear the workspace to release sources retained for undo.

What does the exported PDF preserve?

Page text, images and vector graphics are copied without rasterisation. Page dimensions and rotations are retained. Bookmarks, attachments, document properties and internal page links are not guaranteed to carry over. Interactive forms and signature fields are rejected because their behaviour cannot be preserved. Keep the original and check the result.

Examples and checks

Extract the pages needed by a recipient instead of sending a complete document. Page numbers refer to positions in the PDF, which can differ from the numbers printed on its pages.

Extract an introduction and appendix

Input or situation
A five-page PDF; page range 2,4-5
Result
Three selected pages: 2, 4 and 5.

A cover sheet still counts as page 1 even if the first printed page number appears later. Check the downloaded selection visually.
