How do I split a bill unevenly?
Work out each person’s share of the food and drink first, then apply the same tip percentage to each share. An even split only works when everyone ordered similarly.
Should the tip be split evenly even if the bill is not?
Proportionally is fairer — someone who ordered twice as much generated twice the service. Splitting the tip evenly while splitting the bill proportionally quietly subsidises the bigger orders.
What about rounding the per-person amount?
Turn on "round the total up" so the group total is a whole number. Per-person amounts may still have cents; in practice one person usually absorbs the difference.
