Questions
How do I convert hourly to annual?
Multiply by hours per week and by paid weeks per year. At €25/hour, 40 hours, 52 weeks: €52,000. The common shortcut of doubling the hourly rate and adding three zeros gives €50,000 — close, but consistently low.
Should I use 52 weeks or fewer?
52 if your holiday is paid, which it is for most salaried employees. Use fewer if you are a contractor taking unpaid time off — 48 weeks is a common planning assumption.
Why is monthly not just weekly times four?
Because a month averages about 4.33 weeks. Multiplying by 4 understates monthly pay by roughly 8% — a month of income over a year.
Is this before or after tax?
Before. These are gross figures; take-home depends on your country, tax bands, allowances and pension contributions.
