You need the password for a file that requires one to open. The downloaded copy contains page images, not editable text or forms. Only remove protection from files you have permission to change.

How to use

  1. Open the PDF. Enter its opening password if asked. This tool does not guess forgotten passwords.
  2. Choose Resolution and Image quality. Use enough detail for the document’s small print. The default is 150 DPI with JPEG page images.
  3. Remove password. Save the new file, open it in your PDF reader and check every important page before sharing.

Questions

Is the unlocked copy identical?

No. Each page is rendered and JPEG-compressed. Fine detail may change, selectable text and accessibility tags are lost, and links and form fields no longer work. Existing digital signatures are not preserved as verifiable signatures. Keep the original; use a PDF editor’s password-removal feature if these details matter.

What if the PDF opens but restricts copying or printing?

Some encrypted PDFs open with an empty user password and rely on permission flags. If this tool can render the pages, it can rebuild an unrestricted image-based copy, but it does not recover editable text. Only make that copy when you have permission.

Can ToolsNow recover my password?

No. There is no password-recovery feature here. If an opening password is required, ask the document owner or retrieve it from wherever you saved it.

Is the file or password uploaded?

The PDF engine uses them in this browser tab, not a remote processing service. Loading the page and its processing files can still use the network. Closing the tab is not a guarantee of secure erasure from the device.
