Powdered Sugar: cups to grams
Powdered (icing or confectioners’) sugar is very light and full of air, so a cup weighs a little over half what granulated sugar does.

Convert cooking volumes
The charts above cover weight. If you also need to move between cups, decilitres, millilitres and spoons, this converts any volume:
1 cup (US) in every unit
A US cup is 236.6 ml, a metric cup is 250 ml and a UK tablespoon is larger than a US one — so the system your recipe was written in matters. Pick the matching unit rather than assuming.
Questions
How many grams is 1 cup of powdered sugar?
One US cup of powdered sugar weighs 113 grams. That works out to a density of about 0.48 g per mL.
How many cups is 100 g of powdered sugar?
100 g of powdered sugar is about 0.88 cups, or roughly 14.2 tablespoons.
Why can’t I convert cups to grams directly?
A cup measures volume and a gram measures weight, so the conversion depends entirely on the ingredient. A cup of powdered sugar is 113 g, but a cup of honey is 340 g and a cup of cocoa powder is only 84 g.
Does the cup size matter?
Yes. A US customary cup is 236.59 mL, a US legal cup is 240 mL and a metric cup is 250 mL. Using a metric cup for powdered sugar gives 119 g instead of 113 g — about 6 percent more.
