How to use

Questions
What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?
It is filled with the background colour you choose, because JPEG has no alpha channel. Leaving it at the default white is usually right; black is a common cause of surprise when other tools do not ask.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Drop the HEIC file in and choose JPEG. This works if your browser can decode HEIC — Safari on Apple devices can; support elsewhere varies.
Why did converting a photo to PNG make it much bigger?
PNG is lossless and designed for flat graphics with few colours. A photograph has millions, so PNG stores it far less efficiently than JPEG. Use PNG for logos, screenshots and anything needing transparency.
Is any quality lost converting PNG to WebP?
It depends on the quality setting. WebP supports both lossy and lossless; this tool uses lossy encoding with your chosen quality. Set it to 1.0 for near-lossless output.
