Rolls use the browser's cryptographic random number generator with rejection sampling, so every face is exactly equally likely — fairer than most physical dice, which are measurably biased by their pips. d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20 are the classic polyhedral set; d100 (or percentile) is two d10s in tabletop practice and a single uniform 1–100 here.

How to use

Questions

Are the rolls actually fair?

Yes, and measurably more so than physical dice. Rolls come from the browser’s cryptographic random number generator with rejection sampling, making every face exactly equally likely. Mass-produced physical dice are biased by their drilled pips and moulding seams — casino dice exist precisely because ordinary dice are not quite fair.

Why these die sizes?

d4, d6, d8, d12 and d20 are the Platonic solids — the only shapes that can be perfectly fair physically — plus the d10 and the percentile d100 from tabletop convention. Between them they cover essentially every board game, RPG system and probability exercise.

What should the average roll be?

For one die, (sides + 1) ÷ 2 — so 3.5 for a d6, 10.5 for a d20. The tool shows your session average next to the expected value; watching the two converge over many rolls is the law of large numbers in action, and short-term streaks away from it are entirely normal.

Can I use this for D&D advantage rolls?

Roll 2d20 and read the higher (advantage) or lower (disadvantage) die — both dice are always shown individually, so nothing extra is needed.
